Tiberias is one of the Four Holy Cities of Judaism and an important pilgrimage site, as it offers well-preserved sacred landmarks and attractions, including access to the Jesus Trail that passes through the city in the route from Nazareth to Capernaum. 

Among the sacred sites you can visit when you stay in Tiberias, several distinguish themselves due to their importance for pilgrims: the Tomb of Maimonides; Tabgha, where Jesus performed the miracle of the multiplication of the loaves and fishes; and the Mount of Beatitudes, which is the site of the Sermon on the Mount.

Tiberias is also a spa city, known for its hot springs at Hamei Tveria, some 17 pools with thermal water full of natural minerals on the grounds of the Hamat Tverya National Park. 

The location of the city at the shores of Lake Kinneret attracts many tourists who see a peaceful retreat to sunbathe, swim and practice watersports. The Sea of Galilee is the biblical site where Jesus walked on water – so the whole lake is considered sacred. Many people believe in its healing powers and come here to be baptised in the Jordan at Yardenit, the site where the river flows into the lake.
